The need to pray premptively:

We need to pray premptively because it is commanded of us by God; His son Jesus Christ.

‘And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation.’

Luke 11:4

The four areas I pray this way are:

1. As it pertains to God, that I would be delighting in Him, loving Him, trusting Him in faith, walking in His ways… all of that so that I would not sin against Him.
2. As it pertains to my neighbors- my closest neighbor is my Wife. So, I pray what God specifically commands related to my wife: that I would love her, that I would cherish her, that I would live with her in an understanding way, that I would keep our marriage vows, that I would never in my heart / mind or otherwise commit adultery, and that I would not be embittered against her. That I would love her as much as possible, proportionately in my life to the way Jesus Christ loves the church.
   
   “You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.”
   
   1 Peter 3:7
   
3. As it pertains to my neighbors- my second closest neighbors are my children. So, I pray that I would love them, raise them up in the instruction and admonition of the Lord, and that I would not exasperate them, but that I would encourage them.
4. As it pertains to my neighbors- my next most important people in this world are those whom I work for. So, I pray that I would bless them and provide a hard day’s work, laboring with my hands, and that I in no way would steal from them.

Slaves, obey those who are your human masters in everything, not with eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.

Colossians 3:22

I also pray for other things as they come to mind- situations, people, etc. All seeking to pray things that are mentioned in the Bible concerning the various relationships… my desire is that Jesus Christ’s Kingdom would be established and Built Up in the Earth, that He would be magnified and exalted and worshiped.
